Yesterday, I went hunting for remaining snow sculptures as the winter nears its end, momentarily. Spring has begun to whisper in the wind ‘I’m very near, just a few more weeks and flowers will be bursting with joy and delight.’

I could feel the air changing so I seized the moment to capture more snow scuptures near where I live. The other day I showed the ‘Snow Dog.’ It was resting on the pavement in a parking lot and I photographed it as the dog was sleeping. Tell me what you see – a dog, a mountain lion, a cheetah…..I would love to know! Thank you for dropping by and I always look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Susan

Lots of soft, powdery textured snow arrived early Monday morning. I think around 10 inches. During the beginning of a snow storm I enjoy taking a ride in my car. I get this feeling of – survival mode, being in my auto-bubble as I ride along the street packed with snow. My little humble Chevy is fantastic in the snow. I just move along – never get stuck. If I don’t say so myself, I’m really a terrific driver, especially in a snow storm. It’s such a beautiful sight to see.

A candidate for public office where I live asked me to take several photographs for a brochure that’s being printed soon. Tonight has been chosen because there will be a group of people gathered with the candidate. I was told group shots were needed as well as a portrait of him with his family.

I’m looking forward to this shoot – it’s always challenging to create photographs of people in their natural environments. On-location portraits presents its own set of issues as opposed to studio photography. The lighting is trickier in that you don’t know what you’re walking into. The ambient light vs. flash. I enjoy its challenges and will let you know how things went.

I wasn’t able to photograph the magnificent diamonds growing from the branches of trees in my area. I hope there will be another opportunity.

Thank you for dropping by.

Below is The Canal I, that caught my eyes bathing in this wonderful haunting reflection of a factory building nestled at the edge of a small town. The quality of light reflecting on water creates a mystery within this factory’s lit windows. There are many stories that lie within its walls. ,

Today, I received my new business cards. I’m quite delighted in how they came out – thank all of you in participating in this journey together. I can hear the applause all the way over here in my living room.

Sue, you posted a most intriguing question to me the other day – what vision do you hold for your photography? I’ve been ruminating for days – that’s why you haven’t heard from me earlier. Decisions and revisions a moment will reverse. Sorry for the delay.

I’ve been thinking, how do I answer that now? A thematic vision is one piece of my strategy. I have these ‘Night Light’ series. You’ve seen several of these photographs on my blog. Periodically, I leave the comfort of my home and go into the night as a hunter looking for its prey.

One night after a beautiful rainstorm I jumped into my car and drove around my hometown searching for potential magical images. There before me I saw a marvelous glitter of blue splashing onto the sidewalk. A nail shop magically transformed into a gorgeous reflection. What is now Streetscape IV is that very same mundane nail shop by day. My specialty is magic out of the ordinary and revealing its depths.

More another day. Please share your comments with me. Thank you.

Thank you for continuing to give me feedback. I feel quite supported by each of you. Often times I feel shy about writing on my blog because I’m not sure about what I have to offer you. I feel, as time passes, I’ll come to realize what I can give.

It would be helpful to me, to know what would be interesting to you to read. Let me know.

Sue O’Kieffe – asked to hear more about my screen play – I’ll start there. I’ve written quite a lot during the last three months – the entire first scene has been tweaked numerous times and continues to be tweaked. A retired English teacher was taken by the idea of the story and has become my mentor and encourager to continue to write. Her very helpful comments I’ve incorporated into the most tweaked, up-to-date first scene version. I am currently working on creating conflict and character development. There are days I write a lot and then I put it aside – then return to see how it feels. The process seems to work for me – as long as I don’t let too many days go by. Admittedly, three weeks have passed since my last writing. Not good.

The first scene is the two female protagonists meeting. This has been so challenging for me to write so that it’s interesting and exciting to the viewer. You know the adage, “if it doesn’t hold the attention of the viewer during the first ten minutes, they’ll walk out.” I certainly don’t want them to walk out. It’s a fear I have.

Fear will not stop me. My internal landscape holds an emotional map as to how I want this beautiful story to unfold and be told.

~~ Susan Elkin

The mirror reflections of the woman’s face creates an intriguing illusion of beauty which remains. As we know, there’s nothing more constant than change and one’s physical appearance will always be changing. During each stage of physical maturity, I feel beauty remains a constant, but it is not defined by Madison Avenue. Beauty is defined by the eyes of the beholder.
