Diamonds on Tree Branches

Posted on February 24, 2009 by Susan ElkinApril 23, 2013

A wet, heavy snow fell on the landscape of the town I live in. Within moments it transformed our town into, again, a magical winter wonderland. It was very cold and has been since the snow fell.  As I drive through the streets I have noticed sparkles of ice nuggets dangling from the tiny barren branches. In a particular angle of view – when the sun is behind – the frozen ice nuggets sparkle brilliantly that give the illusion of diamonds resting on the fragile looking branches.  It’s so glorious to see.  I will go out tomorrow and photograph this beautiful moment while the air is still very cold. Nearing the end of the week, the temperatures will be warmer – I don’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to photograph these magnificent jewels. I will post a photograph to share with you.

While you’re waiting to see the diamonds, I’ve chosen this tile with my photograph of the Gray Barn.

Lovely Snow Landscape Filled the Valley

Posted on February 19, 2009 by Susan ElkinApril 23, 2013

Our area of Massachusetts was blanketed with a magical layer of heavy, wet snow.  I love getting into my car and driving along the farm roads in the towns near where I live.

Did take my camera along, took some images  – so amazing to me the glorious change snow creates.  I spent around two hours driving all over watching the snow cover all that it touches.  For me, the best time to photograph is during the snow storm – that’s my favorite time to go out.

Someone once told me that whatever season you were born in – tends to be your favorite time of year.  My birthday is in December and actually Winter is my favorite season. Does that statement ring true for you?  I’d be interested in your response.

Thanks for dropping by.

Shimmering Barn.   A blue lagoon lay still as a sleeping barn reflects itself unknowingly.  The barn’s reflection beckons you to ponder its point of view.

All day today has been devoted to uploading, preparing, writing about and inserting images into my various on-line marketing shops. This is really a lot of work. As a friend said years ago, nothing is easy.

Would enjoy hearing from you about how you like the Roses I on this particular bag – if you’d like!

Things are Happening

Posted on February 12, 2009 by Susan ElkinApril 23, 2013

Since I left yesterday (Wednesday) I’ve been diving into my already existing e-shops. I’ve added additional choices of photographs that are available in different sizes, for example: one of my most popular landscape image, “Night Sky I” can be purchased as an 1×14″ image in a 16×20″ framed image for just $125. It’s completely reading for hanging.

Also, I’ve become part of another site called ‘The Arcade’ – which is a portal an artist can put all their items from various shops onto this one site.  Something like “a one-stop shop place to go.  That’s quite exciting.

There are so many places to market one’s items on-line and also amazing way of interacting with other artists all around the world without leaving your comfortable abode.  I’ll keep you posted about ‘The Arcade’.

I just returned home this afternoon from a meeting with other artists involved with the A.W.E. project – Artists Window Exhibit.  It’s been going on for three years. It’s evolved into having a dedicated group of artists that are involved with the project and want to maintain its continuation. The A.W.E. project gives artists of Franklin County, Massachusetts an opportunity to exhibit their work in local businesses windows.  This way artists and businesses partner in helping to create a vibrant economy. It’s been really a great opportunity for fledgling artists to meet other artists and learn together how to present their work and talk about their art.

The consistent group of artists that do attend the monthly meetings are wonderful people who really want to support other artists. I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity to meet other artists where I live.

Thank you for stopping by, and I would love to hear from you.

Glad to be back with all of you!

Posted on February 11, 2009 by Susan ElkinApril 23, 2013

I know I’ve been missing for a loooooong time in blog writing action – I apologize – there’s been a lot going on. My twin brother has been very ill from complications with his brittle diabetes.  My 97 year old mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She did have surgery and it was a success.  There was much to attend to in helping them with the dailiness of living.

The ususal appointments to go to, shopping , cleaning and since I live nearly 3 hours drive, each way, and work at my regular job and focus expanding my photography business.  All that I had to do didn’t leave me with “free time” to attend to writing my blog.

Another impending medical occurrence is that I will need hip and knee replacement surgery sometime this year. I have an appointment with the surgeon in March to discuss which part will be operated on first.  I’m hoping this will happen very early May.  There is a long recuperation period and I would prefer that the surgery does not happen during the winter months.  All around, it would be far easier to recuperate from limb surgery during spring and summer.

I’ve had both my shoulders operated on and I can tell you from experience that life is harder all around during the winter months.

Eventually, I will be the bionic woman – both knees and hips will ultimately be replaced.

In all of this I’ve had to adjust how to continue to build my photography business that I love doing because my body is changing dramatically and I need to change how I am doing things.

I’m just wanting to explain to you my absence from keeping up with my posts.  Well, now, today I’ve jumped into bringing my shops more up-to-date.  I’ve loaded up additional images for selling.

I would love to sell my large framed images – 11×14″ framed work and the only way that can happen is by displaying their availability in my various shops – etsy shop, zazzle and design style guide.  My biggest selling photographs are now in those shops.  Hope you stop by and take a look.

Peace and Serenity as Spring Unfolds

Peace and Serenity as Spring Unfolds

You can really use this postage in the United States.  This has my image on it.

I do hope you visit my zazzle shop.  Thank you for coming by.  See you tomorrow with another post.
